Savannah- Janice Peterson “Petey” Michael, 78, of Savannah, passed away December 19, 2006 in Savannah. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
She was born on October 27, 1928 in Westerly, Rhode Island, the daughter of Helen and Philip Peterson. She graduated with honors from St. Margaret’s School in Waterbury, Connecticut and then received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University in 1950.
“Petey” met her husband, J. Graham Michael while at Brown and they were married June 18, 1949 in Cheshire, Connecticut. After graduation, they moved to Wynnewood, Pennsylvania where they resided for 39 years, before moving to the Landings on Skidaway Island in Savannah, Georgia in 1989.
She was a member of Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church where she was also a member of the choir
Survivors include her husband, J. Graham Michael and her three daughters, Deborah L. Graham and her husband Bill of Seattle, Washington, Lindell G. Donnelly and her husband Austin of Sammamish, Washington and Susan M. Rogers and her husband John of West Chester, Pennsylvania, along with 9 grandchildren.
An avid golfer, she was a member of The Landings Club, The Ticonderoga Country Club, and The Northern Lake George Yacht Club.
Donations may be given in her memory to the Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church, 50 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31411, or Deerfoot Lodge a Christian camp for boys, Box 228, Speculator, NY 12164.
